Favienne Howsepian || Cinematographer

About

Favienne Howsepian is a freelance cinematographer with over a decade of experience. Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Favienne had a background in editing before attending undergrad at San Francisco State University focused on cinema. Finding herself especially drawn to camera and lighting during her studies, Favienne began to pursue a career in cinematography.

Favienne went on to receive her MFA in cinematography from the American Film Institute Conservatory. Shortly after graduating, she was the recipient of the ASC Student Heritage Award for her work on her AFI thesis film “Snowplow”.

Favienne has gone on to work on a variety of projects, invigorated by the challenge and discovery of diverse and unique perspectives. She has shot commercials for clients including Mattel, Microsoft and Coca Cola & Regal Cinemas, doc series for Tastemade and Ellen Digital, Get Out The Vote ads and other content for Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls, as well as political campaign ads for Rashida Tlaib and other compelling candidates across the United States of America.

Favienne’s narrative work encompasses shorts to features, including the feature film “I Wrote This For You". Her narrative work has received many best cinematography wins and nominations across numerous festivals.

While Favienne loves collaborating on a large range of subject matters, she is particularly interested in content that explores the complexity and beauty of the human condition. Nothing connects Favienne more to the world around her than these shared vulnerable experiences, bringing those viewpoints and worlds to life through the eye of the camera.
